The Minister of Defence Industry, The Hon. Melissa Price MP, today announced that Kord Defence had been awarded a $3.4m contract to help soldiers in the battlefield control electrical devices on their weapons and body.

Funded through the Defence Innovation Hub, the contract will build on technology that was initially developed through a $635,000 Innovation Hub contract in 2017.

"This innovation has great potential to make existing systems more soldier-friendly and improve situational awareness for our soldiers deployed in the modern battlefield" Minister Price said.

"Kord is a great example of how the Morrison Government's investment in innovation is growing small businesses, as well as helping them showcase their technology in highly competitive global markets, such as the US" Minister Pricer said.

Kord's Managing Director, Dr Peter Moran, said "the project will deliver prototype, push-button control system to the dismounted soldier that will functionally integrate weapon-mounted and body-worn electronic devices and systems, so the soldier can be "head up, eyes on target, hands on weapon".

"We are committed to providing our soldiers with the best possible control technology so they can perform their job better, faster and safer" he said.
